Elemental Qigong Summer Series

Qigong in the Forest

In our modern existence we are fundamentally busy, stressed, and largely disconnected from that natural way of living. Our roads pave over the soil and our cities stretch out far, as we see our wild places dwindle. The majority of the Earth’s population is heavily immersed in a modified, manufactured and artificially-charged environment on a constant basis. Obstacles to accessing with ease the natural supports and pathways for maintaining an enlivened inner and outer world are being fortified all the time. This pervasive separation from our vital source leaves many people feeling mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually ungrounded, and depleted.

With the profound disconnection from Nature inherent in modernized lifestyles and an increasingly constructed physical environment, our essential conductive and connective pathways are generally blocked or weakened. For each of us navigating these daily living conditions, the need to consistently tend to and restore our natural harmonious frequency is vital for our holistic wellness.

Ancient Qigong forms were designed by observing the natural world, its cycles, and elements, the trees and plants, and the animals. By observing the nature of these things, early practitioners of Qigong were able to understand more deeply their experience of the world around them, their place within the cosmos and how they, the microcosm within the macrocosm, could attain better health and wellbeing through forming practices that involved movement, breathing and meditation.

The natural world is a pure reflection into the macrocosm. It helps us to see more clearly into our own personal nature and to understand more deeply how we are related to the natural world and not seperate. It helps us to see that we are but a reflection of the design of the cosmos.

“Humans are ruled by Earth.

Earth is ruled by Heaven.

Heaven is ruled by the Way.

The Way is ruled by itself.” Lao Tzu, Dao De Jing

This integration of Qigong in Nature can help bring us back to our personal centers and support each of us in developing an enlivening, interwoven dynamic with the natural world, while utilizing its abundance of healing potential. This relationship allows us to actively grow our fuller understanding of the fabric of the universe and to more consciously nurture the natural, innate balance that sustains each of us and all of life.
